Starting June 1st and running through June 9th, the L.A Film Festival will take place in Los Angeles, CA. The non-profit organization Film Independent will showcase up and coming filmmakers from around the world. For those trying to break into the film industry there will be several filmmaker classes. For the general public there will be many film screenings. This year’s festival will have screenings of 56 feature films, 13 short episodic works, and 58 short films. Twenty-eight countries will be represented by festival entries. The screenings will be presented at the Arclight Culver City theater.
The opening screening for the festival will be Ricardo De Montreuil’s Low Riders. The director of the celebrated film Creed, Ryan Coogler, will be honored as the year’s guest director. Selma director Ava DuVernay will be celebrated by receiving the Spirit of Independence award.
Festival passes are available to Film Independent members and the general public for $350 dollars.
